Accreditation of Ambassador Margarida Izata
On March 7, 2025, the President of the Republic, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, appointed Margarida Rosa da Silva Izata to the position of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Hungary. The appointment reinforces Angola's diplomatic strategy aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
On June 16, 2025, Ambassador Margarida Izata presented her Credentials accrediting her as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Hungary to the Hungarian Head of State, Tamás Sulyok.
During the ceremony, Angola and Hungary reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation relations and expand bilateral cooperation ties in various areas of common interest.
As the fifth Ambassador of Angola to Hungary, Ambassador Margarida Izata succeeded Ambassador José Filipe, assuming the Diplomatic Mission at a particularly symbolic moment when both states completed 50 years of political-diplomatic relations—a formal milestone established on December 23, 1975.
In a meeting on the sidelines of the accreditation ceremony, President Tamás Sulyok highlighted Angola's role as a strategic partner on the African continent, reaffirming Hungary's interest in deepening cooperation across various sectors such as staff training through the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program, as well as economic domains including energy and water, agriculture, technological cooperation, transport, and logistics infrastructure.
In turn, Ambassador Margarida Izata emphasized a commitment to active, result-oriented diplomacy as the foundation of her mandate. She aims to work in priority areas for Angola's relationship with Hungary, aligned with the Angolan Executive's foreign policy focusing on deepening economic cooperation, diversifying partnerships, and attracting investment to strategic sectors for national development. The Head of the Diplomatic Mission also promised efforts to materialize key agreements signed between the two friendly nations.
